TREND REPORT: MILAN FASHION WEEK 2019

Milan Fashion Week is associated with luxury and that's exactly what we saw on the catwalk. Ornate details and fabrics created an air of opulence on the runway for the coming autumn winter season. Here is an overview of what you'll want to be wearing come September:

Oversized Outerwear

Jackets and coats take on an oversized silhouette at Milan Fashion Week. Designers such as Gucci and Fendi showed large blazers to oppose the typical tailored feel and create a more relaxed vibe. Similar shapes could be seen on outerwear such as large, long, trench coats at Tod's. The bigger the better!

Sharp Shoulders

Extreme sculpted shoulder details contrast the more relaxed style of the oversized outerwear seen. This style could be seen on dresses as well as blazers, adding a daring and bold statement to the outfit. Seen at Jil Sander and Armani, this trend is one that cannot be missed.

Daring Vinyl

Bring some colour into your winter wardrobe with this statement trend. Whilst vinyl was seen in neutral tones last season, this season we are seeing it evolve into bright, primary colours on outerwear pieces. This trend is not for the faint hearted and has been seen at Fendi and Emilio Pucci to name a few.

Lace detail

Feminine and sexy, lace has been seen all of the catwalks at brands such as Gucci and Versace. Whether it be on dresses or tights, in bright colour or neutrals, this fabric adds a luxurious edge to any look.

Back to 1990

Dressing like its 1990 isn't going anywhere this season as designers such as Versace and Iceberg carry through the trend including cycling shorts and cowl neck dresses that will transport us back. 90s fashion has been on trend for a few seasons and its likely we will see it take on a late 90s early 00s style in the coming seasons.

Animal Lover

Another trend we are seeing carried through from last season is animal prints. Whether it be zebra, leopard or snake, its time to go wild for this print. Dolce and Gabbana used this trend on flowy dresses whilst Annakiki made use of it on big fur coats.

Intricate details

Whilst Fendi used mesh details to add interesting details to its garments, Prada used embroidery and applique detailing to create exciting pieces. This is a trend that can be amped up or toned down depending on your taste and is one we expect to see a lot next season.

Billowy trousers

Out with skinny trousers and in with wide flowing styles. These oversized trousers have been seen on the runway at Maxmara and Luisa Beccaria and bring the focus to your legs for the Autumn Winter season. Whether they are printed or neutral these bottoms are on trend for the coming season.
